Oh yeah. The actor for Spok died, didn't he?
I don't know much about Star Trek, but I know how loved he was.

Please let's not get started on that age old arguement. Its stupid as shit.
Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas were friends, respected and were fans of each other's work and I think even exchanged ideas after Star Wars took off. Here's a pic of them SHAKING HANDS at a Star Wars con where Roddenberry was the star guest:
I saw a show that was in regards to Gene Roddenberry's death and on the show was his son and George Lucas talking remembering the late Trek creator. Roddenberry's son gave Lucas one of the few remaining original phasers used on the show in the 60's. There's a lot of respect between those two and I think the "Star Trek VS Star Wars" debate is stupid.
They both have their pluses and down sides. I lean more on Trek since I have more fond memories of it and it was something I had in common with my late father and other members of my family. I am a Star Wars fan too though; but like many I prefer the original trilogy over the one from the 2000's. I just prefer Trek.
As for Leonard Nimoy's death:
According to this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/27/arts/television/leonard-nimoy-spock-of-star-trek-dies-at-83.html?_r=0
it was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from his years of smoking.
Re: Space the final Frontier
Bryan you just went on the deep end o.o I was just messing with star trek. Personally not a fan, I prefer farscape or babylon 5 over star trek specially that one captain that talked in pauses ... he made me want ... to ... turn ... fast ... forward ... his ... speeches. :/

I love Star Trek, much better than Star Wars :p
Which Trek series is your favourite? I really loved Voyager when I was younger, but its a contest between that and The Next Generation for top place with me.

First off: YAY ANOTHER TREKKIE!
I'm torn between the original and TNG. I grew up on the original with my parents but I like a lot of episodes of TNG.
I've watched TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise (and yes; I enjoyed it) I have been refusing to watch DS9 due to the concept of it being so dumb to me but I may watch it just to say I've watched everything. As for the animated series... it NEVER HAPPENED. Speed Racer had better animation than that load of crap.
Re: Space the final Frontier
Oh and Ralph; you're a sonovabitch for posting that! THE DAMN FEELS! :'(
Re: Space the final Frontier
I didn't warm to DS9 at first, but I started to get really into it...then my favourite character got killed off -.- It's also nice the way they sort of introduced DS9 for me at the very start of Voyager, and Worf is a main character in it, and O'Brian.
I really was a fan of the original, but I didn't see much of that until I'd already started Voyager and TNG.
Enterprise...I didn't watch all of that. I don't really think going backwards worked visually, since it looked more up to date than the original series.

Re: Space the final Frontier
I am gonna watch DS9 at some point. I feel like I'm not a complete fan until I watch it. I did hear Q only showed up once in that and he punched in the face by the captain in that one. I still prefer how Picard and Janeway handled him.
Enterprise was certainly different; I agree its not the greatest trek show. The NX-01 DOES look more advanced that the original (however the reboot movies' Enterprise looks even more advanced than every Enterprise in the series) But I like how it gave some background to all that technology and species that have been in the series since the start. The teleporter, space flight, relationships with the Vulcans and Klingons, ect.
thinking about it; its odd; the series likes to kill off our favorite characters. Spock, Kirk, Data, Trip, ect.
@Jordan: LLP, my friend.

Too late; I'm going to!
I don't know if you've played it or not but in the backstory to Star Trek Online they said eventually they were able to bring back Data through his brother B4. I wonder if they were going to do that had they continued with a TNG movie series like they did with the original cast.
I liked that; the movies for the TOS group was their adventures with the Enterprise A. the TNG movies are with the Enterprise E.
Kinda a shame Voyager and Enterprise never got their own movies but I guess the reboot movies are close enough for Enterprise since they mention Archer as an Admiral.
@Voca; enjoying the comments? I think this will my biggest geeking out thread since I love Star Trek. XD
Re: Space the final Frontier
It just felt too much like they made B4 so they could kill Data, and yet keep Data -.-
