Dragon Ball (The Future of the Series)` Empty Dragon Ball (The Future of the Series)`

Well I know we got lots of Dragon Ball fans around here and I just read some interesting news.
As we all likely know a couple years ago the first new DBZ Movie in like 16 years came out featuring the new Super Saiyan God form of Goku and the new enemy/rival Beerus the God of Destruction.
Now a second movie titles "Resurrection of F" which features our favorite galactic emperor returning from the grave: Freeza. Complete with a new form that rivals the god powers of Beerus. Also there is the new Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (dumbest name for a form EVER) form for both Goku and Vegeta. Apparently Goku and Vegeta have mastered the SSG form and can now utilize their regular Super Saiyan form into the God power up. (I think "Perfected Super Saiyan God" is a better name)

Also a few months ago the new game Dragon Ball Xenoverse which is a mix of fighting game and MMO came out for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS4 and Xbox One. And it has 2 DLC packs out already with a 3rd featuring the forms of Goku, Vegeta and Freeza from the new movie as well as Akira's other series' main character: Jaco the Galactic Patrolman (which is tied into the Dragon Ball story) and I heard a 4th DLC pack is in the works.

And now a new Dragon Ball TV anime is coming out titled "Dragon Ball Chou" (or Dragon Ball Super if you prefer) which takes place after the Buu arc like the recent movies. Here's the arcticles I found on it thanks to Facebook:

I saw an update this morning about the new Dragon Ball television Series. I wonder how it's going to be since it basically retcons the abominations of GT.

I'm also looking forward to Resurrection of F but I hate the art style for some of the characters....especially Gohan.

Right now I have an obsession with Xenoverse. Great game.

I'm gonna be honest.
I love Dragon Ball as much as the next one, but enough is enough...milking a franchise so much just leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

One of the major issues with the series, if I recall my research, is that he was really reluctant on continuing it but was sort of forced into continuing it. Which is why there are so many problems and inconsistencies with the series. He sort of gave up and was like, "fuck it, I'll just make something so they shut up"

I thought it originally ended with the cell saga or something..? I seem to remember, a long time ago, hearing that the creator was "let go" because he wanted to end the show there, but they wanted to keep going... never really looked into it, though..

Originally it was supposed to end with Goku dying and Gohan picking up after him. But they kept pushing this idea into the Cell Saga, and then basically because Goku was so popular forced him to keep using him as the main hero.

Actually I think there was issues with the series being continued long before that. Like since the start.
The series was gonna end with the Pilaf saga way back in Dragon Ball. (before Goku met Krillin and was trained by Roshi so only like the first 12 to 14 episodes) but he was convinced to make it a long running series.
I think he wanted it to end with the end of Dragon Ball (An adult Goku beating Piccolo Jr, marrying Chi-chi and finally winning the Martial Arts tournament. But the same thing happened so it was continued into Z.
He wanted to end it with the Freeza saga. Goku avenging the Saiyan race, becoming the legend of the Super Saiyan and being the most powerful being in the universe.
But again; same thing. Got continued.
He wanted to end it with the Cell Saga and Gohan being the new hero.

But then came the Buu saga...

GT had no part by Akira except for the concepts of SSJ4.
I heard that the needing a tail to be a SSJ4 was a concept originally intended for SSJ3 since that form was supposed to be the ultimate form.

Personally I enjoyed GT. At least more than the Buu arc.

GT gets too much lash because it's such a change of pace from Z.
It was nice and enjoyable to me. I get the criticism, but at the same time, I don't get it.

I agree with you there GT.
I see it as the attempt to change back to the style of the original Dragon Ball. Searching for the dragon balls.
I do find it questionable why they chose to have Goku as a kid again, but I don't hate the decision. To me it was interesting.

The fighting was short. The humor was back to being immature until the baby saga. The whole series was about 64-ish episodes which is very short compared to DB and DBZ. The main focus on character was mostly Goku and not much of anyone else except Pan and sorta Trunks.

Yeah, the new Dragonball series is apparently set after the Buu saga. Like you guys-I enjoyed the Drangonball GT series for what it was. Some speculate though that the new series may replace the whole Dragonball GT timeline as a result. Reports say that Akira Toriyama is totally on board with the new project, so that's good. He was apparently very burnt out at the end of his Dragonball Z run.

Maybe GT will be fully taken out of the timeline and that's fine with me. It just means that like the DBZ movies (most of them being really off-canon) that it's just some extra fodder for the fans to enjoy or not.

I do understand why people don't like it. I just do.

What I don't fully understand is why DBZ Kai is generally disliked. I watched the uncut of Kai and it was way better. 90% of the voice actors are the same. The ones who did get changed are fitting. (imo Freeza's old voice sounds like a bully on the playground instead of emperor of the known universe which he is) and it cut out the useless filler leaving the main story from the manga. And come on; they swear now. It urks me when they say in the original "darn him". "Damn him" isn't that hard.

Haven't watched it yet, but I suppose a bit of dusting off can't hurt the series.

I'm itchy on the whole "replace the GT timeline" thing, but hey...
