Its not even that for me its the cost.
Most require days worth of boring grinding or paying an arm and a leg to fully enjoy the game.

the grinding can get on my nerves..... too much and i'll stop playing. probably won't notice it as much with VR tech. we will see.

Yeah that's why I stopped playing Star Trek Online. It was the same missions over and over again for a few hours just to do it again the next day. Ugggg
I only jump on STO now to do the story missions.

Yes, a lot of stuff is usually behind a pay wall even if it is free to play. Most of the time the quality of the story isn't up to scratch either.

I felt the story to STO was pretty good. Not as good as the shows but in terms of story its a good continuation of the Star Trek universe. I just question how the hell the federation ended up on EVERYONE'S shit list because last I checked in the series the Federation and Klingons were friends, the Romulans were slowly turning into friends and the Borg had been dealt another big blow. It was looking optimistic.

it was all manipulation.... the iconians wanted it...  how easy it would be to take over if we were to busy killing and wiping each other out... they used 8472 and threw everything into chaos but over time we learned and adapted and know who the true enemy is so it's up to us to stop going at each other for 2 seconds long enough take care of business.

could you imagine what would happen is the US collapsed?

Then Star Trek Online is an exception to the rule. The MMORPG stories that I've experienced haven't been stellar. The narrative in DC Universe Online for example just dragged on.

I'd rather not imagine what it would be like if the USA collapsed. I like you guys.

Well there would be ONE good thing:

Not as much war. Face it; the US is a warmongering country. Ever since WWII we've been loving it since it fuels are pockets.

Most of the wars prior to WWI and WWII were over land or some other dispute.

There will always be bad people but hopefully the world can develop to such a degree that we can limit their power and help the weak. Large portions of the world have seen peace for generations. That's something to celebrate.
