Re: The Legend of Zelda
To this day, A Link to the Past is still the only Zelda game I've completed, hence my favorite.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Majora's Mask FTW! (original or 3DS version; it matters not)
My first was probably Zelda 2 the Adventure of Link. When I was little I used to watch my mom play Zelda 1 and 2 (mostly 2) and eventually she got OoT after we got an N64. OoT was the first I beat. Then MM, then WW, then TP and then Minish Cap. I haven't beaten Skyward Sword yet.
Majora's Mask holds my heart because of how different it is and its 3 day cycle system.

I'm a big fan of TLOZ. I love almost all of them, I like the timeline alot, the whole splitting the series with the Hero of Time Winning/Losing to ganon was a really cool reveal.
My friend is at the London Legend of Zelda Orchestra right now.
Fav: Orcarina (Whatelse?)
Least Fav: (Besides the CDI's) Skyward Sword.
Guilty Pleasure: Twilight Princess.

I second that! Majora's Mask FTW~~~!
Also, Twilight Princess is awesome!
The first Zelda I ever played was the original, on our NES. Back in the day... *sigh*... I used to try and get my mum to play games with me, and take turns xD
...was never a big fan of Zelda II, though... is it just me?

Not really. Between the 2 original games I prefer Zelda 2 but that's for the memories it brings me. I've never beaten either one (gotten pretty damn close though)
No way in hell is it ever being a favorite.
My Mom has only played the originals (not counting failed attempts at OoT) but her favorite is Zelda 2 despite never beating it to this day (and she bought it waaaay back when it first came out on the NES)
Re: The Legend of Zelda
We have Zelda II on the NES... I just can't get into it. I don't know... it just doesn't feel right to me, when I play it. Not basing that feeling on other Zelda games, but just games in general. it doesn't feel right to play, like, I'm missing something or it's lacking something I need it to have...
I can't get on board with it, but it's not without it's charm.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Everyone has their favorites and the ones they dislike. Zelda 2 is the black sheep of the series and its disliked for that reason.
Funny thing is I remember Majora's Mask used to be widely regarded as people's least favorite because it was so dark and different from the rest. Now its people's favorite. It always was my favorite.

My favorite is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I could replay that game over and over. It's my favorite 2D LoZ game.

I remember that as well. When OoT came was the big thing, and we got Majora's Mask, I was like "...why don't I just play OoT instead? It's more straight forward..." But after actually playing through and getting into MM, I was like "...THIS GAME. YES".

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Ahh should have replied to this sooner but now I may.
First off I would like to begin with out of the many game series I played Zelda is one of those rare gems that can keep a constant value for the most part as long as we look at main installments. Must remove thoughts of those CDI games wand of gamelon away with you I say.
This includes skyward sword as well despite being more linear or moreover feeling more linear it is technically very lore heavy on the Zelda franchise if not the most.
Beyond that is able to convey a adventure that is well balanced while it may not immerse you like some games with its size and whatnot it finds a very good medium in the styles it presents.
The story is well done for most of the games that it has shown within it.
I do love to dive into the lore it offers and exploring the timeline is always fun,
Not to mention the many theories out there for some of the Zelda games those can be enjoyable if not crushing for certain other aspects.
I do apologize however for the long length of my response.
But as far as favorite Zelda game goes I cant say which exactly only that its a threeway tie.
Majoras Mask,
Was a Zelda game that aimed to do something different and add a system that was well done considering the short time it was produced. It gives segas rushed sonic games at times a lesson there.
The whole mask system and collecting them via helping others or simply gaining them via exploring was very nice. The time system made a sense of urgency and unique turn to the franchise along with being more darker then any other Zelda game besides maybe twilight princess but that was moreover the tone then anything else.
It had its flaws at times but it made up for them with the variety it brought a notable flaw one could say might have been the short dungeon amount or a certain boss battle everybody knows in majoras mask that has played it.
As for personal experiences I just loved the crashing moon aspect in the game and the skull kid as a villain was a nice touch. Not to mention there are certain symbolisms to be drawn from going through the game a major one you could say is that links journey is the five stages of grief which I could agree with.
Theres also a few nifty easter eggs placed in the game much like in ocarina of time with the windows having the reference to mario, this one provides it along with other references on the happy mask salesman which is another character I do enjoy within the game.
The manga not canon though makes him out to be darker then he normally is.
But with all that said I can definitely say majoras mask is one of my favorites and is tied with two other games.
Some people may not enjoy it as much though due to the focus on sidequest rather then the mainquest at times because that's what majoras mask is all about.
Next up is A link to the Past
This game was very well done for its time, it also utilized items in a very fun manner rather then you collect this item and it does this for the boss or that specific dungeon and so on.
The game was nice in size and introduced a nice mirror world mechanic that I liked quite a bit.
What really makes me love link to the past though is the progression of the game, theres not much else to say in that regards other then it highly succeeds in most departments for a Zelda game coupled with a few different factors that I mentioned. I may not have played it as many times as majoras mask, but I can definitely put it on par in a tie as well.
The last one may come as a surprise to some but for me personally it was well done.
Windwaker,
What I love about windwaker is that it has a very nice style that it incorporates wonderfully using cel shades. The HD remake made this even more noticeable. For some that cel shaded style will be a reason not to like it in fact way back when windwaker was being released it was due to the fact that Nintendo released a entirely different trailer with another style that made fans expect something else before going to the cel shaded style.
That created a bit of a hole for windwaker but it recovered quickly when people started playing it for the most part. Since to me windwaker is by far one of the most easy Zelda games to just jump right into. By no means is it a hard game its very easy especially with the combat mechanics being used. Its not tedious starting out the game for most,
The big thing that it introduces though as most know is the sailing mechanic and having the overworld as a ocean scattered with islands. For some right here this may be another deal break. Since it can be considered that its just filler and the islands are the actual size of the world but that depends on your perspective of it. Since its simply incorporating the overall theme of traveling to those islands.
Theres definitely a lot to do in the game as well, it all really comes down to if you can stomache a more cel shaded version of Zelda along with less dark tones in it. That and the mechanics of the ocean used in the overworld and the easy combat.
For me personally I can say that I do enjoy the game very much so, for those reasons since it offers a refreshing take on it, this may be minor but I did love collecting the figures in the Nintendo gallery that you could go into at a certain point by taking photos and whatnot.
With all that said though windwaker takes the third spot in the three way tie.
Coming in second place Zelda Ocarina of time.
The reason why is because ocarina of time is a true triumph for the franchise it nails most things down to the tee, however at the same time it is simply that A very good example of staying true to the formula with a few more things here and there. That is though just a opinion as are all my viewpoints on the matter.
The rest of them are all good as well even skyward sword they just don't exhibit the same interest to me as those I mentioned. Twilight Princess does give ocarina of time a good run for its money though.
I would like to learn the hylian alphabet by memory if all possible just to do so,
I have a few questions though for all of you out of all the Zelda games which do you think has had the most effect on you?
Out of the places you have explored in the Zelda series which if you had to pick would you be content to stay in?
When you look at those games now the ones that are your favorites do they feel the same currently?
That is all,

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I am a HUGE Zelda fan. I've played them all and I've owned most of them. Majora's Mask is my favorite and has been since that game was released back on the N64 (I believe it corrupted my childhood and probably turned me into the grim person I am today, haha). I do a lot of MM inspired work in my Graphic Design.
My favorites are ALTTP, OOT, MM, WW, TP, and SS.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
FINALLY Got my hands on The wind waker HD... it was good.. I loved the graphics.. but they made some changes to it I REALLY didnt like aswell... I almost feel like they simplified it far too much for this version.. the original is better in alot of ways..
for those who want to know the changes click the spoiler tag.
so a good game.. I loved a few features... hated others.. >.< <3
for those who want to know the changes click the spoiler tag.
- tww spoilers:
- -the original was way more challenging in some aspects.... for one, you had to stop to be able to swing on the rope in the first temple in dragon roost.... or in the pirate ship, while here it was simply to easy as all you had to do was to move the wiiu pad.....
-The Triforce shards had become more irritating to gather... instead of making it so there were only maps and after that you had to fish up the shards, they removed some maps and replaced it with shards... however the issue is... it was far too spread out.. untidy... if they were gonna remove the maps I feel like they should have done it the right way, that being my 100% removing them and leaving the only map part as the ghost ship..
-The ghost ship was an issue in itself.... when you played the original game you could open this map and actually see the ship move over to your seachart... NO this did not happen in this game... not atall really... I turned days and nights only to find out its never gonna appear.. you have to know the name and location of the island on each side of the map in order to find him... and by the time you're able to discover it.. unless you are playing cheats.... you simply lose it because too much day\night time passed....
I also disliked that they added some minor cute things about the game... like the creepy face in the ghostship that dissapears when you get closer to the chest.... but in overall they added and remixed the music to make it sound more fresh and good... so it was a good game.... but it only gets 6\10 for me... whereas I had the other at a strong 9\10
another issue was obviously the bow and arrow.. or boomerang how you could shoot using your hands and wiiu pad rather than moving the way you used to... this alone simplified alot of battles... while they enabled you to do both... the original game battles were more complicated due to this feature.
so a good game.. I loved a few features... hated others.. >.< <3

I've always had a soft spot for Legend of Zelda games, but I would have to pick Link to the Past as my personal favorite. I may have already beaten it a few times, but it never grows old for me.

I had my former friend's copy of ALBW but when I cut ties to him I sent it back and never played it. I'm not much for portable gaming.

My dear, I grew up playing Link to the Past and Wind Waker. My older brother got me to start playing the game when I was probably about seven years old and, I still like Zelda games as a 19-year-old adult.
