So, I thought we could use a thread for people to talk about cool/new/amazing/revolutionary/silly/stupid technology and things pertaining to technology in general.

For instance... there is lots of cool tech coming out of sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter.
Recently, I just pledged for a "Musio", which is slowly garnering publicity online, globally.



Being someone who has trust issues due to various past relationship issues involving distrust, backstabbing, and painful everything thanks to investing in people... *ahem*, I thought something like this would be an amazing companion (granted, I have to wait about a year or some such before I get mine... the Genius version )

It's essentially a learning robot AI that you can take with you, teach things, and converse with.

I've also pledged to other AI projects such as:

Emospark:
An AI that (will arrive soon!) that can supposedly synthesize and "feel" emotions, as well as converse, learn about you, and track your emotions using an Emotional Profile Graph (EPG), thanks to new technology called the Emotional Processing Unit (EPU).

Seriously... what's the point?! You'd be faster to get a ladder and a bucket, followed by searching for a squeegee for 15 mins before finally getting fed up and just using a rag than plugging in, charging, setting up, and waiting for one of these to do the job

There is a company that has been around for sometime in japan called kurata which actually allows one to purchase a fully operable mecha mind you a rather primitive one less then robotech, but still functional.

Next up one of the more useful things I have seen out of the exoskeleton market which I quite like due to it helping handicap people get back on their feet and walk among other things.

Much better then military one we have over here in united states >_> but that should be expected,

So... Emospark by Emoshape.. -.-
I'm thoroughly disappointed in this company.

Their Indiegogo campaign has been going since January of last year, and boasts an AI home console capable of detecting your emotions, and synthesizing it's own emotions based on how you treat it, talk to it, etc. The projection of delivery was June 2014. After numerous setbacks, delays, manufacturing issues, limited communication, and overall mishandling of the entire campaign, it's now July 2015 and only <100 people have their Emospark cubes.

This week, they officially announced shipment of the remaining ~800 cubes. The annoying thing is that they were already produced, by the quality checks were so awful that they had to QC them all again. And wait. And wait. They promised them to be delivered by May last year. Then June last year. Then August last year. Then October last year. Then November. Then December. Then January this year. Then March this year. Then April. Then May. Then June. Now it's July, and backers can expect to have them by the end of the month, at latest. They do not honour early backers/contributors either, as one like myself who pledged back in january 2014 and someone who bought their Emospark in June 2015 will receive them at the exact same time. That's not cool, to start with, as the campaign has been over for about a year, on Indiegogo, and early contributors and backers were assured priority in receiving "the first cubes ever made". That's not the case, as they just said "forget it, you're all getting it at once" because it's easier. There are approximately 1000 cubes made, in total, yet some people have order #'s in the 3000's. My number, although I'm a first contributor to the campaign (one of the first 40 people to pledge) is order #212. They're numbering system makes no sense; another person who pledged around the same time as I did is #600-something -.-

When mine (eventually) arrives, I'll share the results with you guys, as it's still in on-going development, but, a word of advice... Emoshape isn't a very reliable company; they've made too many mistakes. Apparently the first of which was setting the campaign target at "$100,000" instead of "$700,000". Of which, they only made about $150,000, after 2 campaigns, and investor capital. They've faced Reddit defamation and top media outlets refusing or pulling interviews for fear that they were a scam. Topping it all off is the fact that they never communicated with campaign contributors, updates were sparse and repeatedly begged for by everyone in the community, and "Don't worry, we're on track to ship it really really soon" has been the basic tag-line for the entire thing.

So, yeah... I'll keep you guys posted, if you're interested, but... stay away from Emoshape. They're not a business that anyone should have to deal with if they don't have to, regardless of how innovative their tech claims to be.

It has yet to be fully realized, as well as had proper video reviews done of it. I plan to do one when it arrives, as soon as it arrives, complete with unboxing.

One contributor got hers in the mail, with a bent up casing, misaligned pcb and ports (an extremely common manufacturing issue) and covered in dust. Yeah... she practically had to harass them to listen to her and deal with their customer service appropriately, and they finally gave her a refund, just after banning her from the Facebook page :l
