She is apparently Choi Mochimazzi. A character from the anime Tamako Market. It isn't stated from what country she came from other than it is a tropical place where parrots also reside.

I agree with gwidhw. Her appearance is probably based on a culture of one of the indigenous South American societies. She has gold bands on her ankles and wrists and the Aztecs did use gold as ornaments extensively.

Good point. I thought Native American or Egyptian since she looked like someone of high social standing in one of those two civilizations.

....Great now I feel like watching the last season of Yugioh. I don't have much interest in ancient civilizations but yugioh definitely got me interested in Egyptians. Their gods and stuff I think is more interesting than the soap opera that is Greek/Roman. But that's getting pretty far off topic. Maybe I'll make another thread just for that.

Yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh got me interested in ancient history in general. To such a degree that I chose to study it further at university. I probably like the Roman/Greek and ancient Egyptian stuff in equal measure.

The picture below is of Meo from the anime Heavens Memo Pad. She is from Thailand and looks quite similar to the Choi Mochimazzi that we discussed earlier.  Maybe Choi's in actual fact from a place in Southeast Asia, close to Thailand? They say that Choi comes from a tropical island nation south of Japan so that would fit the bill probably. Just an interesting theory. I have too much free time on my hands
