Greetings and salutations. Empty Greetings and salutations.

Post by Takumi of the Wind Sat Apr 25, 2015 10:04 pm

I'm usually terrible with forums nowadays. Most of my social networking goes to Skype or some other form of contact, haha. It's been a long time since I've been on a forum.

I saw this posted on several places at MaiOtaku. I decided to stop by and register, just to see what this was about. It looks like a fair community.

I signed up under my nickname, Takumi.

There really isn't much to know about me. I'm a hodgepodge of mentalities and perceptions, with a little bit of crazy in between. My hobbies generally reside around martial arts, the fine arts, and some geeky things such as Nintendo, gaming in general, and Star Wars. I am also known for my appreciation and involvement in the studies of Japanese cultures and subcultures.

My personality is a bit dark and blunt, but I won't go into that. It's a long sob story that doesn't need to be reiterated over and over again for time to just rot it. If you want to get to know me, please take the time to speak with me personally. I promise you that I'm not a vile person.

I am nonreligious, and consider myself an agnostic athiest. I am not close minded, but I prefer to leave religion out of the picture. I used to be a very spiritual person however.

I tend to be pretty blunt and blatant, but I don't mean it offensively. Also, I have a very sarcastic sense of humor. I've been compared to Robin William's sense of humor at times, when I really get into it.

I currently do not get to eat very well, but I love to cook when I can, and I tend to learn fast when it comes to things, so I enjoy learning new dishes.

I enjoy relaxing, watching movies, anime, reading (particularly manga, I haven't read many regular books in a while), listening to music, and going to the park. I generally dislike being cooped up for too long, but at the same time I'm always down for sleeping in, haha.

Let's see...what else? Oh yes. I have at least seven years of martial arts behind my back, mostly swordplay of various types (though I am terribly out of shape now due to college). I take pride in the studies of history, psychology, and the arts. My own establishments fall in the realm of digital design and graphic arts. On top of this, I am currently a Design Team Member of a Lucasfilm associated costuming organization called The Dark Alliance. Star Wars is one of my main fandoms, but I am a huge fan of many anime, manga, and other cartoons. One of my current favorites is Blue Exorcist.

It sounds like you'll fit right in!

We're only just shy of 2 weeks old but so far we're a good community. But don't take my word for it; look around. Talk to peeps and enjoy yourself.

I just ask if you like what you see you tell your buddies online and offline. We're always looking for new good people. Smile

Yes it's a fairly good setup. I used to administrator forums as well and I've built a few myself in the past. Notably, I was the former administrator of the late PLR (Pikmin Legends Returns), a Nintendo-based fansite.

You've got a great layout here. It's simple, easy to navigate, and covers about everything you could want in this sort of community. I like it.

I don't have many contacts, but I may throw the name out there some. And perhaps, a few dead bodies as well.

lol thanks. we can't take a whole lot of credit since this was a free-to-make forum. I've run one other forum which died rather quickly and my own site which I rarely update.

I want to keep this site well rounded on users because I'm an anime fan, old tv shows guy, Trekkie, Star Wars fan, BTTF, ect.

Yeah, I've noticed it's hard to maintain or keep forums going anymore. I like to blame more modern social networking, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. They are more efficient for what people want when it comes to threads and discussions. But I do like to see forums like this float around from time to time. I like the pace and organization of them better.

And yeah, that's a good thing to do. Geeks are geeks, regardless of what they like, haha. I grew up with both anime and Star Wars, so....bam.

That's exactly the reason why forums usually fall off the face of the planet.

Same here. I grew up mostly on Star Trek. I did grow up with Star Wars as well. I didn't get seriously into anime till I was a teenager.

I've been looking at methods on how to keep up and stay active. I want to make sure this site gets people coming in.
Ways to keep this place interesting for you all so we don't give into sites like FB or twitter or tumblr. I've heard that sites like those have gotten to a point where they will limit your feed on what you are getting from others now.
I realize that forums like ours can be free of those limitations.

Yeah forums online tend to be more open about discussion. But they also tend to get very hostile, haha.

I wish for that NOT to be the case here. Call me an idealist with that. Debates are great as long as things don't escalate to fighting, But we do have options to prevent much of the drama MO had. For example we got the foes and friend system. Friend is obvious. Foes is your block button. I'm unsure of its exact abilities without some experimentation but I have reason to believe if you add someone to your foes list you can not see their posts and vice versa. Also I think they can not PM you or post on your wall.
